If cared for correctly, your My-Cap silicone components should last for at least 100 uses.
We recommend using a burr grinder for the best results, as blade grinders create an inconsistent grind, as well as too much dust.
We suggest grabbing a bag of our delicious Bespoke Blend in espresso grind (crafted specifically for use with My-Cap) to get you going - you can also take this along to your local roaster as a great grind reference point!
And of course, one of the beauties of filling your own pods, is that you're no longer restricted to the blends available from big brands. To help you brew a great planet-friendly cuppa, we've put together our key tips for selecting the perfect coffee for your new reusables!
Blend: It's important to remember coffee beans are an agricultural product - naturally, they differ! The roasting process also has a big impact on the final product. As pure coffee beans have no added flavours, we suggest using a lovely strong, dark roast. We also encourage you to try a new blend every time you shop for a new bag of coffee as you build an understanding for which flavours and aromas suit your palate.
Grind size: We recommend using a fine grind for most of our My-Cap products. If you're not grinding at home, ask your favourite cafe to grind the beans for you. (Please note: Coffee for My-Cap My-Foils for Lavazza should be ground between fine and extra fine.)
Machine prep (recommended for best results)
To assist with optimal performance, before brewing with My-Cap we recommend performing a thorough descale to ensure that the brewing pressure of your machine is normal.
Step 1. Fill
Place an empty Vertuo capsule in the Capsule Holder and fill with coffee (leaving a little space for the Silicone Cap) and tamp firmly. Give the edges of the capsule a quick brush to remove loose grinds.
Step 2. Seal
Place the Paper Filter on top, followed by the Silicone Cap. Ensure the text side is facing up, and the Cap is pressed evenly into the capsule.
Step 3. Brew
Place the capsule into the machine and close the handle. (Please note: If there appears to be resistance when closing the unit, reopen it and try again.) Brew and enjoy!

Step 2. Seal
Carefully centre the My-Cap Foil on top of the capsule, and then using the end of a spoon, press firmly but gently to depress the inside edge of the foil in the capsule. Ensure the foil is completely pressed around the edges, and that the barcode under the capsule is still showing.
Step 3. Brew or store
Place the capsule into the machine and close the handle. (Please note: If there appears to be resistance when closing the unit, reopen it and try again.) Brew and enjoy! Or if you want to fill in advance for convenience, simply store your sealed capsules in a cool, dark place.

Step 2. Seal
Apply the My-Foil Seal to the top of the capsule, pressing gently but firmly around the edges.
Step 3. Brew or store
Place the capsule into the machine and close the handle. (Please note: To avoid additional holes being punctured, ensure the existing holes align during placement.) Brew and enjoy! Or if you want to fill in advance for convenience, simply store your sealed capsules in a cool, dark place.
VertuoLine capsule bases vary in size. The barcodes on each capsule dictate the volume of water flow, temperature, infusion time and speed of capsule rotation. The type of brew you make is determined by the capsule base you reuse. For optimal results, we recommend using the Short Espresso base. If using a larger size, run a 40mL shot, then press stop. This provides the ideal amount of water to extract the best elements of the coffee.
1. Carefully remove the pierced foil covering from capsule.
2.Wash the empty capsule base in warm water with a little dishwashing liquid, rinse and dry.
3.You're done, your capsule is now ready for reuse!
All My-Cap components are made from food-safe materials, and are BPA free. In addition, all Silicone components are BPS free.
The Paper Filters are biodegradable and compostable. These are optional, and can be helpful if you are finding coffee grinds in your cup, or to brew a richer coffee and crema. We suggest running a shot with the Filter, and a shot without the Filter to see what works better with your machine! Simply place the Filter on top of your coffee, before closing with the My-Cap Silicone Cap.
Always have a fresh coffee pod ready to go by filling multiple capsules in advance. Simply fill as usual, top with the Silicone Cap, place the Silicone Lid over the top and store in a dark, dry place.
